The scientific understanding of intuition is still evolving, but it is recognised as a complex faculty supported by several key factors:
✔ Balanced Mind: Intuition thrives in a state of relaxation combined with heightened awareness. Balanced brainwave activity creates the ideal mental environment for intuitive insights to surface.
✔ Heart Coherence: Intuition is closely linked to Heart Rate Variability, a marker of a resilient and responsive nervous system that is conducive to intuitive states.
✔ Inner Eye: The pineal gland, often referred to as the seat of the third eye, is one of various gateways to perception beyond ordinary sight.
✔ Biology: Specialised light-detecting molecules in our skin and central nervous system, known as extraocular photoreceptors, seem to play a role in subtle perception.
✔ Consistent Practice: Intuition is a skill that strengthens with use. Regular practice, mindful curiosity, and a clear intention to develop it are essential for growth.
Extra-Ocular Vision (EOV) is like the cherry on the cake of Intuitive Vision. It’s the ability to see one’s surroundings in surprising detail and accuracy while wearing a blindfold or mask.
Intuitive Vision, on the other hand, is broader. Perception may appear in many forms beyond precise visual detail: sounds, smells, body sensations, or even symbolic visual impressions. In short, EOV is one type of Intuitive Vision, but not the only one.
Recent studies show that EOV tends to unlock more easily in children aged 6 to 12, thanks to higher neuroplasticity—their brains are naturally more adaptable to new ways of perceiving. This age beautifully balances imagination and logic, creating an ideal window for perceptive growth. Some children experience EOV as early as the first session; others may discover it gradually—or instead awaken different extrasensory abilities.
After age 12, the “rational brain” often becomes dominant, making EOV rarer—but not impossible. With regular practice, teenagers and adults can develop other intuitive skills, like direct knowing, synesthesia, remote viewing, and expanded perception.
In my programmes, we don’t aim only for EOV. Instead, we honour each person’s unique path, nurturing all forms of intuitive development—whether visual, sensory, or beyond. Intuition has many faces, and together we discover the ones that resonate most deeply for you.
